Walking In The Line Of Fire... Poem by Preena Mathew

Walking In The Line Of Fire...

Walking the line of fire,
We never know how we invite that ire.
Smiles and frowns and small satire,
We never know how we invite that ire.

It's only about the smart buyers,
Wealth brings in crude desires.
Oil wells make some sink,
Some are asked to wait and blink.
If we read between the lines,
It's not hard to see
Who obeys and who opines.
Can't we see a few great strands?
Of the same old empire.
And how we learn to walk
In the line of fire.

Stocks may tumble,
While some chose a silent grumble.
Some stay silent,
While the lands beneath them start to crumble.
No one's so sure
Who will stand the ground.
With ego that swells beyond
The oceans and the skies.
Not getting time to see
The people who surround,
And have learnt
To walk in the line of fire

While some chose to shout..
'No..no, it's just US,
And no one else.
Is there enough room
For that pride that swells?
Stand with the stride,
Or you have no choice
But pay the price.
And then...there is 'the nation',
And there are nations.
It takes few guns,
And lump of gold
To proudly say that
There's nothing we cannot behold.
Seems the yesteryears being retold.

We never know how we invite that ire...
Walking in the line of fire..
Walking in the line of fire...
