You are the gift of the year, my sweet pain.
If your presence used to shower
My most precious moments,
Without you is just the same,
It being your delicious deceit
And so creative in its own way.
How can I wipe you out from memory?
How can I forget one for whom I used
To keep waiting each moment
And who, in fact, had changed
The course of my life and my world?
Being in love and yet disillusioned
Has made me a changed man
And the renewed vision now makes me
Look at things, at people and places
In a different way.
Faces and figures now pass on to objects
While I walk carrying the bulk of your memory
And you smile hiding behind the curtain
Like a naughty child smiling,
Proud of breaking someone's prized doll.
