Walking Slowly Poem by Preston Simmons

Walking Slowly

I left my home
Without my devices,
Finally walking with the focus
Of where I'm going,
On a road
That stretches on for as long as I can walk.
In my dreams,
I walk forward into the fog,
Into the future,
While reaching back for the past.
In reality,
I walk backwards into the fog,
Only able to see what is behind me.
Life is full of unexpected experiences,
Yet some people still rush,
Their focus blurred by time.
I plan on avoiding this,
And I'll try to walk slowly
Instead.
