War Back In The Day Poem by brandon zumwalt

War Back In The Day

They're running,
not thinking,
then before blinking,
they fall in a deep hole,
where they find themselves in a fold,
resting in razor sharp barb wire feeling their broken bones,
tuned out tones,
like they were in line ready to let go,
mind blown,
then they disappear underneath the now falling snow.
The had to follow orders,
now their bodies laying paralyzed on opposite borders,
trying to be free so there country can see what they can be.
