Warring Fire Poem by Nadia Daniel

Warring Fire

Fire
bouncing turning twisting turning
raging up firing down
destroying the very ground
years of ancient work and lifestyle
gone within a simple blaze
lives that lived not long ago
with a single spark are razed
some cry out for mercy
while others dropp to their knees
still others declare the after fate
while ships depart across raging seas
rich with stolen booty
filled with laughter and victory
necklaces for home bound wives and daughters
no one cares about the ones they've killed
the just made, still bloody slaughters
and the sea pounds with helpless anger
bound tight by ancient rules
the wind is tired from directing arrows
and decides to let the sea settle into pools
so murderers get across with 'stolen booty'
and live to see another day
while those they've left behind still burning
cry out that evils got it's way
