Warrior's End Poem by Samantha Bougie

Warrior's End

My time is at an end,
My protection no longer needed,
My skills no longer required.

A warrior is what I am,
what I was made to be,
It is all I know to be.

They told me to settle down,
to find a mate to keep me sane,
But they should know,
that won't happen.

For one can not love a warrior,
We are cold and unfeeling,
the way we become what we hate.

I know I will never know Love,
I will only know hatred and destruction,
Because it is what I am good at.

So I will teach others how to fight,
So they can fight for what they believe in,
Because I was never allowed to do so.

Beautiful, I can agree with much of it. I'm a soldier and have been alone, by choice, for a very long time. I've found my love though. You have to put down your shield and let it happen. It might be hard since, by reading your poems, you lost a love once. I'm guessing you are young enough to recover from that tragic loss and learn to love again. ;)
