Watch Out Poem by Göran Gustafsson

Watch Out

Today, I'm leaving on the southbound train
Riding 'till I stand before the sun
I've been to the east and west, you know
And I've always been on the run
The music is streaming through my head
When I try to set the lyrics straight
And the ragged voice in my iPod sings
Watch out for a simple twist of fate

On my left there is a preacher
And he knows his bible well
The stars are falling on his head
And his rags from brimstone smell
Tonight I will pray for you, he says
The day of judgement cannot wait
And the ragged voice in my iPod sings
Watch out for a simple twist of fate

On my right there is a rambler
A gambler and a master of his arts
He shuffles the deck and I draw my card
And it is The King of Hearts
Tonight I will stay with you, he says
Let us meet at the heaven's gate
And the ragged voice in my iPod sings
Watch out for a simple twist of fate

I gaze through the broken windows
Where my life is passing by
When seized in a short reflection
A woman kneels before my eye
I know I've seen her once before
But I didn't know how to relate
And the ragged voice in my iPod sings
Watch out for a simple twist of fate

She truly is my heart's desire
And should always be my Queen
She brings both rust and diamonds
But is the only truth I've seen
I ask her gently to be my wife
Though the hour is getting late
But the ragged voice in my iPod sings
She is gone, by a simple twist of fate

A simple twist of fate is it love or is it hate? You'll never understand Life's simpily worms in a can And each will wiggle out. For this, I have no doubt Until you come to see That it's your fate and destiny. s
