Watching An Era Unfold... Poem by Preena Mathew

Watching An Era Unfold...

Watching an era unfold...
Where no story seems to hold too long
All tales seem like leaves of different books..
Opinions galore and plenty of space
To write and express
Still, no stone seems to move...
Barely any noise to make
Some seem lost in the troll…
And for some…the blue ticks
Seem to matter the most
Those fingers that might want to say
We are done with the endless scroll

What a different world back then
Days were when people walked barefoot
And their voices reached miles away
No magic of internet or text
Awakened minds and selfless souls
To make a revolution untold
Those golden times are lost
With the wink of an eye

Now, seeing an era unfold
There's so much to read, write, or speak
Still, there are no voices that peak
Stories are everywhere, but still, they stay
Glowing screens and clicks could light up the day
But nothing seems to come together
No one needs to be a thinker, too
Click, and the thoughts are done
Brain can well shut its eyes, too
No need to think what grey cells in your brain
Instead just learn what new things ai can do.

Watching a new era unfold
No story seems unheard
Curiosity need not be bold
There's all that this era can hold
Well, it can manage all the thoughts
It's the realm of the screen window
Endless possibilities and all knowledge
Just barely far from a finger touch
Or even just a blink of an eye…
Yet, it takes so much to bring all minds
Together but divided into their own

Where no stories seem untold
Watching an era unfold..
Watching an era unfold
