Water River Of Life

Water River Of Life

A bead of water lit by light,
Likea jewel shining bright
Clinging to a leaf so green
Is the source of life unseen.
One drop then two and two becomethree
Falling to earth as they drop from the tree.
Joining together to form a small stream.
Soon they splash and play among the rocks
Seep deep between the rocks,
Entering every crevice and nook
They become a babbling brook.
Springing forth they become a mountain stream,
Soon with silvery fish they teem..
Hurrying, as they gather, down the hill
They stream bed soon they fill.
To a grassy meadow they flow
Slowing to a lazy place they go.
Then into a pond the beavers built.
Filling it with drops to the hilt.
All the animals come here to drink,
As the water stills it gives me time to think.
Now over the beaver dam it goes
Across the rest of the meadow flows.
Entering the forest thick
Like a boat it floats a stick.
Down the forest floor floor it does speed
Nothing does it seem to heed.
Oh! Hear thethunder and the roar
As over a cliff it does soar
To come crashing down below
Before rushing off it does go.
Soon it gathers in a rocky pound
Surrounded by fern and frond.
A shy brown doe sips from it's edge
As she creeps out from it's ferny hedge.
Now those drops are caught in a blind eddy
It is filled with debris and is muddy.
Trapped thoes drops could lose their light,
Become filled with darkness and blight.
A mountain breeze pushes them out
Down the mountain side the rush with a shout.
Just as slow as it was before
Now they rush over the rocks with a roar.
Now they join others to become a mighty river,
Power for many they are the giver.
Then they flow into the sea
With therir kind they will always be.
Look closely and you will see,
This is much life for you and me.
