WC Fields and Rodney Dangerfield
are much more alike than
many think
Maybe nobody stopped
to notice
both said things that were
questionable even at the time
both would likely be canceled today
and for the same reasons
one spoke deliberately
maybe cautiously, slowly
and the other in staccato
so that's why no one noticed?
But they philosophized
about very similar things
And one could easily
and comfortably use
the other's words
Today it is likely both
would get 'no respect'
But in a world
socially, culturally and
in a variety of other ways
just composting
it might be 'wonderful
wonderful' to have him
them
back
