We Are Dark We Are Black

We are dark we are black
Worlds do not center around us
We center around worlds
We are bark to layer to protect
Wrapping around Christmas trees
We are weathering of woods
Wet from rains to dry to warp
Darkening the outer skin of trees
We are free of limits to our needs
We are mathematics free to
Predict we know the truth of love for
We are it - for we compete for gifts
To leave children without want for
Desires for greed to keep
Lord don’t let these black arts of mine
Die left with time -take them with me
See when upon pasture it’s cemetery or
An old man’s recollection catalogued
The book of his distant memories
Life is not an audit you should fear
Experiences alone have no experiences
Faced before or after moments near
The end of it in dark and black fear.
