We Are Eagerly Waiting Poem by Kawake Sipelo Vuke

We Are Eagerly Waiting

My life has been marked by suffering
Since day one of being in Christ,
For I know nothing except suffering.
Every blow of life is heading for me,
This body is already dying
One more blow won't kill me
For I am already dead.
At least to the world, but alive in Christ.

We Know the old creation is being ushered out;
It does not go out without causing pain and suffering.
Like villain character in a movie
Who's been short on the head
But dances all his way to the ground
Or the one the protagonist has thrown into a burning fire,
And walks away thinking his dead
But you can see him rise slowly in the background
It is the phoenix rising from the ashes
Prepared to walk out of the fire and finish the job,
It is the self, the die-hard of this world.

But behold a new creation has come,
One that is only subject to Christ;
For sin, the world and the devil has no dominion over it.
But the Triune God has become all and is in all.
What a joy to be part of this Kingdom,
Whose humbled King became a servant
So that he may wash the dust of the world off the feets of His elect.

We are groaning due to the sufferings in the world,
But we rejoice because of the glory that is to be revealed
Waiting for the day when the tears will be wiped
The mortal swallowed by immortal
Clothed in glorified bodies
Eternal life granted as a gift,
The chosen people rejoicing,
For the Triune God is in their midst.

We are eagerly waiting.

We are groaning because we are still suffering in the world, But we rejoice because of the glory that is to be revealed
