We Are Wanderers (After A Saying Of Carl Sagan) Poem by Shalom Freedman

We Are Wanderers (After A Saying Of Carl Sagan)

We are wanderers
And we have wandered
And explored
Through many generations
The furthest regions of our earth

But as we look to the stars
As we dream to wander into the great distances
We know
It is not we who can wander

But only some distant invention our minds make

And our bodies bound to earth
Can never truly explore
The world upon worlds in the distance
Waiting to be wandered on

And apparently
Not made for us.
