We May Not Be Going Anywhere Poem by Shalom Freedman

We May Not Be Going Anywhere

We may not be going anywhere
In all this vast universe
Of so many planets and stars
Of worlds and worlds of galaxies
It may well be
It is all too hostile to what we are
That the only place we are really made for
And though it is not always
And has not been always so friendly to us
The only true home we can have
The only place we can live on and be ourselves
Is the home we already have
is this Earth
The only home we have ever known
And are likely ever to have
