We Pay To Learn Poem by Francis Duggan

We Pay To Learn

We pay to learn as some are known to say
And crooks are many it would seem that way
And from the poorest people some do steal
To their type morals never do appeal.

For many not a good World to live in
Where to be poor by some seen as a sin
Where many look old long before their prime
And just for to exist turn to petty crime.

We never stop learning though we grow old and gray
And a new lesson for us from life every day
And the lessons from life in hindsight we recall
Though some from life seem to learn little at all.

Of a happier future many only daydream
And we must pay to learn or so it would seem
By Lady Luck many of joy are denied
And the gap between the haves and the have nots is growing ever wide.
