We'Re The Same... You And I - Poem by Andrew Leone

We’re the same, you and i
We came from a life,
Where the world stabs us in the chest and leaves us for dead
Crying in the ditch, begging for a hand to reach out to
Instead we get forgotten and passed on by
We know what it’s like to be abused, ridiculed and thrown away
We know how easy it is to be betrayed, cut loose from a dangling rope
I know your suffering, and you understand mine
The nightmares that I suffer from, are tainted with my own punishment
The pain you feel, is more of part of you then anyone will know
We have an equal understanding of the pain inside
We’re the same, you and i
We came from a kill or be killed time
We loved and lost,
Even to the point we cut each other with our own words
We’re forbidden in heaven and useless in hell
But perfect on earth
