We Were Young Poem by victoria martinez

We Were Young

We would sit on my roof
Staring at the stars
We would laugh all through the night
I forgot the feeling of being free
.
We would get stoned in my bedroom
In my kitchen
In my living room
In the bathroom of the school
.
I forget how it feels to be high
I regret not letting those moments absorb
So quick to grow up
I wanted to be “responsible”
.
Now the roof it’s to high
My kitchen it’s empty
My living room is where we watch movies
Those times of freedom are gone
.
We used to be young
And now I’m not sure what we are now
But I know one thing
I’ll never be as happy as I was
