Welcome Home Poem by Devon McElveen

Welcome Home

You have been gone for so long,
I await your arrival,
To see
Your beautiful face.

As you were not here,
My body stayed tense
Every muscle
Seemed to ache.

Every night
I'd dream of your eyes
As they fixed
Upon mine.

I'd dream of seeing
Your lips,
Your smile
so benign.

A day would not
Go by
That I did not
Hope to feel your touch.

No words
Could describe
How I love you
So much.

The days I sit here
Waiting for you
Have made me
Feel alone.

I will stay here
Until I am able
To tell you
Welcome Home.
