The Earth spins round, a steady hum,
But something's changing, has it come?
Our planet tilts, a gentle sway,
But why does its axis drift away?
It's like a dancer, on the ice,
Whose arms move out, then pull in nice.
As they spin fast, a sudden change,
The Earth's spin too, rearranges.
From frozen poles, the ice does melt,
And water flows, a story felt.
It goes to seas, down by the shore,
And shifts the weight, and asks for more.
We dig for gas, and oil so deep,
From underground, secrets to keep.
This precious stuff, we bring to light,
And move the mass, with all our might.
The water pumped, from lands so dry,
Ends up in oceans, way up high.
This heavy shift, so far below,
Makes our Earth's spin, a little slow.
So ice that melts, and water drawn,
And weight that moves, from dusk till dawn,
These gentle nudges, day by day,
Make the Earth's axis, shift away.
