Whale Poem by Han Li

Whale

Rating: 4.8

A gentle whale swims through the roaring waves of the sea
It has everything, food, friends and power but most significantly it has freedom
It dances through the water creating blossoms of droplets
But in an instant all of this is shattered as a deadly harpoon strikes hitting its calf
The sea turns red
As it leaves the water it leaves all its previous life behind it
Red blood splashes onto its pure white skin only to be washed of by the rain
It’s hauled up and left on an iron monster
It looks up and the eye of an alien looks back at it
It struggles but the harpoon is stuck like a thought that won’t go away
It lies on the boat drowning in its own blood
It is neither conscious nor unconscious
The scientist never comes
Everything goes black, black, black
