What A Circus Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

What A Circus

Sleep farcically darling,
Sleep with eyes open
Because the slumber
Will not disrupt the pace
Of stars in a transit.

Wake up and condone the city buoy.
Wake up, with eyes shunned,
Darling of callow eyes.
Because the sanity, the wakefulness
Somewhat distorts your vestigial soul.

Look, we were sullied
And cleansed, what a circus!
And we let people in,
In the context of letting people in
To feel as if entwined to a path
So we wouldn’t feel alone in this
World of stable apprehension.

Genuflect on the linoleum floors, gentle child
And let your Gods fasten your bones
And listen to them click in synch of the
Besmirched symphony.
And afterward, when your bones have been
Ignited once again, sleep with eyes open –
And wake up, with eyes closed.
