What A Hustle And Bustle Poem by Deanna Samuels

What A Hustle And Bustle

What a hustle and bustle this morn,
a journey to airport became quite forlorn
went through security - new regulation
take shoes off - caused slight commotion,
customs a breeze, so very polite, enjoy.
Arrived at departure gate, then, oh boy,
oh no, the other half's phone is missing.
A thorough pat down, nothing, but wishing,
only conclusion, left behind in Uber,
how does one handle such a dilemma!
Keep calm, is first step in this situation,
think, aha, go back to confirmed ride screen
scrolled down, see what comes through.
Eureka, ‘lost items', follow the clues,
for this, know your password for Uber site,
keep pencil and paper ready to code write.
Opportunity to contact driver or message Uber,
somehow it worked, a message came through -
phone found, will be returned by Uber driver
with more advices by Uber messenger.
Advised them now boarding the plane,
give it in to the Superintendent at home,
no problem said Uber, driver will phone.
but boarded plane with trepidation -
will we ever see the phone again?
Had already left a message with the Super,
to let me know if it comes from Uber
and there I had to leave it to fate
as plane flies up and away, result to await.

Epilogue:
Upon landing, note from Uber helpline,
driver had delivered phone by that time,
Super too, confirming and placed in office.
My thanks to him and Uber's great service.
