What I'Ve Learned In Life Poem by Heather Maliakal

What I'Ve Learned In Life

Rating: 2.7

You asked me what I’ve learned in life,
this is what I know.
A man can beat you down,
without a single blow.

A cruel word said,
here and there.
Will burn a heart to ashes.

You asked me what I’ve learned in life,
this is what I know,
It’s safest to build the walls up high,
and never ever cry.

Bury my shame deep down inside,
forever to be mine.
Never let hope or love
think they have a chance.
In the end it all comes down,
to the cruel words that were said.

A promising start here on Poemhunter, good job... but I do hope that what you wrote here is fictional. Life would be too bleak. All the best, Lee
