What Is Life! Poem by Bireswar Halder

What Is Life!

Standing beside a flaming pyre,
In the dark night under the sky.
When the surroundings are calm and quiet
I think of the beginning and ….. the end.

The pyre with its blazing flame,
Accepts all with no difference.
Either a king, rich or a distressed,
Finally all are equal when laid on its bed.

Man with his pride and fame
Never thinks about his end,
Starts doing all that can be done,
With the power and influence he possesses.

To cheat and bluff others,
And to exploit his near and dear
Thinking that to be his only goal,
Loses all his missions and real role.

Life is but a walk,
And it is the pyre - the glowing flames,
That we`re all heading to
Until then, let live and peace reign.

Oh pyre! Your greatness none can equal,
Bless all mankind with your power and strength
So that courage and stability may reign
And let the brotherhood live in tranquility.
