What Lies Beneath? Poem by Dylan Gilbert

What Lies Beneath?

Fire burns from deep within
Living in my world of sin
Tired from the words I hear
Hurt for others I hold dear

Still the smiles upon my face
Hold within the only trace
The times that I have met despair
These times that I cannot yet share

They say that I'm too young for pain
And first that I must grow my brain
And yet they do not know how I feel
The things I think I can conceal

Just as many others do
I too, for now, shall hide my pain from you
I hope when you are in my place
That you can believe your happy face
