What Now Poem by Gerard McLaughlin

What Now

What now sweet lady
What now in our lives
Do we forget about us
Shall I go, shall I leave you
Should I fight, fight for love
Will you accept me back
Will you forgive me for who I am
Will you remember, remember
The good times,
Will you find it in yourself
To show compassion
I have wronged
I know what I have done
The things I have said
My actions, my stupidity
My selfishness
I look at myself and I know
That you loved me for what you saw
I changed
I became a monster
It was all about me
I lost my way
I chose the wrong path
I have turned back round
Is it too late
Can I become a better man
Can things be the same
Or can they be better
Better than before
Can I prove to you
Can I prove to myself
Or are these just questions
That I need to answer
Will you allow me
To be part of you again
What now sweet Lady
What now?
