What’s Missing? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

What’s Missing?

Don’t know her very well
We sometimes share time
Same class at the center
Students past our prime

It’s good to see her again
She has a hesitant smile
Something was missing
What? It took me awhile

Missing was a quiet fellow
Her husband of many years
I overheard consoling murmurs
She hugged and held back tears

She said, I’ll be back
I need time to adjust
Don’t worry I’ll be fine
I don’t plan to collect dust
