What's The Difference Between You And Me? Poem by jane horner

What's The Difference Between You And Me?

What’s the difference between you and me?
Why don’t you see what I see?
I can’t explain what it is with you
You don’t seem to do what I do.

Your clothes are just not the same as mine
Your hair, your looks, everything you have
You go to places I would not go
Speak to people that I don’t know

You have a different way of living
Perhaps a different tune for singing
I look at that and what can I see?
All that is different from me

I am unique and that is good
But look at the tree, not at the wood
Just see each person as they are
Growing in the earth as you and I

For if we were just one and the same
How sad, how low and painful life could be

The Difference is: colour, shape and light
The tone, texture, the vibe inside
We can be as we are and stand out proud
Friday, Tuesday, Winter and Spring
Nothing is wrong, everything allowed

The Difference is: the unknown,
Not to fear or hate
To explore, challenge, learn
To change mood and pace

The landscape, the crowd,
The dimensions all change
Remain true to yourself
But accept and celebrate
The difference between me and you!

Accept others for what they are....
