What Shall Remain Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

What Shall Remain

‘And, sirs, ' said he, what shall remain
Shall be these works, as long, so long
As their containers be'

Thus said, the thin bearded Prophet
Said, ' Wealth, palaces, cities, towns
Shall in the future melt'

The Crowd numerous that heard
Bowed down their heads and
Not a word was heard.
