What The Dogs Say Poem by Diana van den Berg

What The Dogs Say

Rating: 3.0

Out there
pillowed on the chill night air
and blanketed
in misted pauses of silence
canine alerts and explanations,
you sweet messengers
left lonely outdoors in the cold
if only
your attendants
would listen
and heed
your protective
and unanswered
love.

Would be such a sadder world without dogs, I think. I am glad to be alive in this world. Thanks for your hymn to the guardians of our doors.
