Some words we use, they make folks frown,
Like 'heck' or 'darn, ' or 'piss off, ' down.
For Christians, this, a question deep,
Should we use them, or should we keep?
Some say the heart, it truly counts,
If no bad thoughts, then it amounts
To less of sin, a passing sigh,
But not a curse to make folks cry.
The Bible tells us, speak with care,
Build others up, with love to share.
No naughty words, no unkind sound,
Just gentle words, all around.
What's 'bad' can change, from place to place,
So best to love, and show good grace.
Avoid the words that hurt or sting,
To God's own honor, let us sing.
His name is holy, treat it so,
No casual 'OMG, ' you know.
It's not respectful, nor quite right,
To use His name in fading light.
So some say, 'Never, not a bit, '
Others say, 'If it do not hit
With anger's edge, or make folks sad, '
Then maybe, just maybe, it's not bad.
But most agree, it's wise and good,
To speak with kindness, understood.
No vulgar talk, no rude display,
To shine God's light, day by day.
