What Would You Say Poem by Mohammad Younus

What Would You Say

What would you say,
if it were known?
Would my soul's cheek blush—
For joy, or shame?
And would my heart leap
in flattered surprise,
Or curse illusions, forever undone?

In green dreams,
where lucid scenes unfold,
That fount of all existence—
Your love haunts my nights,
Gilding the long day,
For all verse you inspire.

In every line, let truth prevail—
A hymn to The Truth beloved,
Pulling jewels from divine light,
Setting them in words,
Approved by you,
Forged in the fire of your name.

Expressions that unfold the heart,
Instilled by your grace,
Break through emotions
As rivers carve stone.

Grant me wisdom—
The only gift by which I
Can share your love.
The secrets you would reveal,
I would share with only those—
who deserve to be told the secrets.

All praise to you—grant me wisdom,
So none may charge me
'A lovelorn wonder of verse.'
