Whats Your Favourite Colour? Poem by Kate Warner

Whats Your Favourite Colour?

One day my friend said you me:
'Choose a colour, any one it could be'
'Yellow' I replied in the quickest of fashions
'My you said that with such passion! '

'Yes' I said, 'for you see'
'Yellow is a special colour to me'
'It brightens up the dullest day'
'It makes the bad things go away'

'When I see the colour yellow'
'Everything inside feels so mellow'
'A smile creeps up on my face'
'Then I pass it around all over the place! '

'What is your favourite colour' I asked
'I don't have one' she said so fast
'For you see my life is grey'
'And nothing ever goes my way'

A tear slid down her face
Then another, like it was a race
I held her tightly in my arms
She looked surprised, “don’t be alarmed! ”

“Grey can be beautiful too”
“Oh if only that, you knew! ”
“Look at it with different eyes”
“My! ” she said, “What a surprise! ”

“For I never knew it could be so pretty”
“I never could see it, what a pity”
“That grey is a lovely as greens and blues”
“Thank you” she said, “I owe you! ”
