When A Child, People Used To Whisper In The Country Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

When A Child, People Used To Whisper In The Country

About the ghosts and goblins,
Spectres and spirits following,
Shadows
As the places were lonely and manless
And the tracts less populated
And dense,
They used to under the dark nights
About the the spirits of untimely dead persons,
Children ghosts taking over on the sandy river beds
During the summer
At noon or night,
Ghosts swinging by the banyan tree aerial roots,
The villagers about the dry palm tree leaves rattling
Either by the bird or the wind blowing,
Scent coming at midnight during the summertime
Which might be of some jinn girl
Or something passing through the woods of timber tree way
And intercepting, interrupting us,
It used to frighten more when some used to burn with
Hari bol sounds breaking the silence.
