When A Man Invites A Woman For A Walk Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

When A Man Invites A Woman For A Walk

Rating: 5.0

When a man invites a woman for a walk
sometimes it's just a warm thought underneath
A hand to hold, a smile to behold
Someone to walk next to
Not above or beneath.
Sometimes if the truth is told
he just needs a friend and a soft hand to hold
to make him feel alive again
and not so old
a softer side of him
the sensitive side
when his spirits are waning
and he's not so bold
where silence is needed
and soft understanding
and communication
not a sounding board for complaining
and if we find ourselves together
as man and woman
and the sunshine should disappear
and the clouds roll in while we're walking
and it's raining
Our lips might meet
and say what is felt
a solitary shared feeling sweet
beneath the unspoken longing
and lonely straining
and abstaining
and containing
I think of you somtimes
when I walk alone
and feel alone
when it's raining.
It's just a poem...
and I was just alone
not seeking or attaining
Just thinking of you
When it started raining
