At five, the teacher asked -
how many of you drink milk everyday?
all the little children raised their hands
to indicate they did and felt so proud.
At ten, the friends asked
how many of you have seen
the movie - 'Gone with the wind'?
a very few raised their hand and one was me.
At twenty, age asked
how many of you have fallen in and out of love?
Many of them raised their hands
and replied with- O' so many times, so many times!
Finally, at thirty, reality asked -
how many of you have been fathers and mothers?
Just a couple of them raised their fingers and smiled.
At forty, I heard a priest ask -
how many of you are born from a womb?
The church-goers replied aloud - me, me!
as if they never knew
that every human is a mother's child.
Silently, as I walked out in the afternoon Sun
I felt the warmth of my mother's love
and her very prominent question
came to my mind - Will you remember
to take care of yourself when I die?
tears filled my eyes which never dropped.
