When All Is Said And Done Poem by Linda Hill

When All Is Said And Done

When all is said and done
And you draw your last breath
You surrender your soul
Into the arms of death
What will you leave behind
Who will remember you
Looking back at your life
How well did you do

When all is said and done
When you travel your last mile
Looking back on your life
Did you bring others a smile
Did you visit a sick friend
Or put it off another day
Did you stop and smell the flowers
Or hurried by them on your way

When all is said and done
What will others think of you
When the eulogy has been read
And your life on earth is through
Will you leave your mark on the world
Through a child's happy face
Or did you live your life in sorrow
That time cannot erase

When all is said and done
And dusk falls on your soul
You see your life pass by
Each and every scene unfold
Will you see the happiness you brought
To someone in need
Or will you see a tearstained face
Wallowing in their own greed

When all is said and done
And your body cries for rest
Will your family grieve around you
Knowing you have done your best
When the angels come to claim you
Will you be worthy of their call
Or will you hang your head in shame
As your teardrops fall

When all is said and done...
