On that cold and rainy summer day
I was overwhelmed with happiness
But a feeling inside me got on the way
I felt like I was closer to another loss
It's hard to tell when happiness fades
And loneliness sneaks inside.
Seems they've made a secret trade,
My joy was violently pushed aside.
My eyes looked upon the sky to see
If I could catch a ray of sun.
But the sun was much too far from me,
And so had my timeless battle begun.
I calm my heart with a silent tune,
A song that others will never hear.
The honour of this piece belongs to you,
Words you've said when I was in fear.
I can't tell what tomorrow brings,
But rain can't wash away my hope.
If I would have a pair of wings,
I'd still be hanging on a rope.
I'd never fly away without you,
I'd rather feel a little despair.
You're the one who will get me through,
Without even really being there.
