When I fell in love with you, I wasn't expecting it.
I wasn't planning to feel my stomach drop.
I wasn't planning to cry to feel you.
I wasn't planning for my heart to leap from my chest.
When I fell in love with you, I didn't think it was love.
I thought it was jealousy.
I thought it was petty.
I thought it was lust.
When I fell in love with you, I didn't know it would make me feel like this.
I didn't know I could be so happy for you to want someone else.
I didn't know I could be so sad it wasn't me, but happy you were in love.
I didn't know you wouldn't love me back.
When I fell in love with you, I knew it would hurt.
I knew in the end, I would cry.
I knew in the end, I would sob and forget to breathe.
I knew in the end, I would lie. I would say I was happy, and move on.
Because when I learned what love really meant,
I knew I wanted to hear you say you were happy.
When I understood what love meant, I was happy.
