When I Have A Child Poem by Tosh Foerster

When I Have A Child

I hope I have a boy
To teach him things i never learned
And if I had a boy
I'd tell him about how to treat the world
With kindness and humility
To hold his head up high
And strive to understand the things he does not know
My baby boy will fly
I hope i have a girl
To learn from her about the world
And if I had a girl
I'd tell her how she wasn't born in second place
She was born as beautiful as could be
And there isn't a single thing that could stop her pace
When it comes to success, My baby's gonna win that race
And when I have a child
As wonderful as can be
I’ll show them things I wish learned
And watch and listen carefully,
When they start teaching me
