When I Have Arrived Atop This Hill Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

When I Have Arrived Atop This Hill

When I have arrived atop this hill
I glory in my puny success relative
And first with glistening eye
I see the rays around of golden sun
But then looking up I saw
I was surrounded by mountains so high
That the clouds jealous hid their jutted tops
Wherein the thickest snows of all did hang
As opal diamonds in a haunted sky
And then my Brain Mind lordly sovereign
To me said with loud Voice: ‘See
You not how afar you be to touch
Greatness of heavens with your hand? '
At which my head I bent and spoke not word.
