When I look back on sixty seven years
Full sixty seven winters bleak I see
Rage in stifled pain and suffering
And immense fields a desert lie
When flesh and blood posterity I lack
And instead prickly thorns and wastes see
But then a somber, sad, sweet voice
In my numb ears whispers; I hear;
Said the Voice: ‘Look back at what
You thought, discovered, wrote in
Sixty-six years and count; and then
Let the immense heavens judge.
And loud the Voice of immense heavens
Shall, ousting sickled Oblivion say:
‘These works shall not forgotten lie.'
