When I Was Young And I Didn't Know Poem by The Muse

When I Was Young And I Didn't Know

When I was young and I didn't know
People played games to rule the floor
Love was fantasy and made me uneasy

Years passedand I did see
People loved somebody incessantly
And yet I waited for that love of mine

Its about time the light doth shine
I looked and looked and little saw
What joy to me that love had brought

I searched it high and low
In the crevices in the tree hollow
But where did I find it but see

It was waiting for me in the reeds
I could not believe my eyes
The flutter in my heart began anew

His silvery tongue gleamed in the light
Mesmerised me and I lost my sight
I followed him with my senses

Day and night within the trenches
Away from the evil world and stenches
His presence made the world alright

Brought to my dark days light
And then the day came
When I thought it all a game

Now I await my plight
Hoping I'm wrong
But I could be right

I cannot live
With him out of sight
He is my only delight
