When I Wish To Slumber Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Why LORD? ~ when I wish to slumber
Do YOU awake me from my rest,
Make my Mind work in rhyme
And to YOUR Greatness atest?

Is it not time for me to sleep?
To get my energy back,
For tomorrow I must try to walk,
And not fall on my front or back.

Why LORD? ~ I know YOU neither Slumber nor Sleep,
But we poor Humans must.
Remember LORD how frail we are,
And in YOU we all must trust.

LORD ~ Keep me safe tonight,
As YOU have in days gone by.
Make me awake praising YOU,
For I am but a speck in YOUR Eye.

Guard my Soul and keep it safe,
Return it to me when I awake,
For whilst I breathe I shall praise THEE,
Keep me Strong not Meek.
