When It Comes To War Poem by Raymond Farrell

When It Comes To War

It's easy, much too easy
To get caught up in the moment
The patriotic music and atmosphere
Every old, Oh this and Oh that
God bless this, and the other
We stand on guard for something
And we'll die for nearly anything
But somehow, people fail to see
The injustice smack dab in the middle
Of this proudly proclaimed equality
That sends the young and impressionable
To fight and die
Oh please let us all
Quit this nauseous hype
Let us all soberly
Have a hard look at reality
Leave God out of it
And do something befitting
Those who sing of justice
For crying out loud
Let us stop this insane racket
And find a more intelligent way
To settle our differences.
