When Morning Comes Poem by Mohammad Younus

When Morning Comes

When morning comes,
I ask myself,
Where can I find
warmth
in this wonderland?
The heart burdened
by shadows of night,
I carry,
an ocean of uproar
I must still.

I've braved
the storm of solitude,
learned that silence
isn't always gratitude.
The stars and moon
I see in darkness
are but shadows
of eternal light.

And yet,
the dawn comes to me
before I know it—
There is no illusion;
I await enlightenment.
By the grace of the eternal,
the dawn approaches,
the queen of night has weathered.

I witness at dawn
a bond unbroken,
the eternal bond—
I, the seeker of love,
and the divine time,
where my soul, once adrift,
finds its rhythm.
A broken heart,
healed by divine alchemy,
learns to trust,
cherish,
and rediscover.

And still,
I am far from flawless,
far from pristine,
yet that doesn't mean
I'm not striving
to forge a love that is pure.
I'm striving to create
a love that is sure,
to compose a bond
committed to every command
from my Lord—
every sign, every rhyme.

So I lift my eyes,
not to what divides me
from the whole,
but to what unites me
with the whole.
Distance is not real
when there is the whole truth.
There is no reason
for near or far,
for separate or joined—
All as one, a whole.

I must first lay down
the fears of illusion
that tether me to duality,
and open my heart
to the whole—
knowledge and wisdom.

Let the world,
if nothing else,
say this is untrue:
That I have faltered.
I have found my way,
a love that binds me
to the whole.
