When My Good Shepherd Cares For Me, Should I Worry? Poem by Dr John Celes

When My Good Shepherd Cares For Me, Should I Worry?

The Lord my God will work out things to favour me;
He helps me beat all odds in life to gain success;
He turns the tide against me to favour my cause;
All walls that block my progress are removed by Him.

The roads ahead I use are leveled and made straight;
He warns me of all dangers that lie in my path;
I walk erect in righteousness without a fear;
Some darkness cast cannot make my foot-steps falter.

God plans my future so meticulously for me;
He does not want me to worry at all in life;
He will take care of every want my family needs;
The Lord my God has chalked out strategies I need.

The Good Shepherd is well aware of my safety;
He knows where pastures thrive with grass most succulent;
He gives me rest and sleep I need on my journey;
He leads me through most difficult terrain with ease.

And all I need to do is follow Him blindly;
Sometimes, He tests my faith and my self-confidence;
The prowling wolves and foxes dare not come near me;
Blows off my Shepherd's staff can kill them in a trice.

I feel so great belonging to my Shepherd's flock;
I graze on meadows where grass, water both abound;
I cannot go astray on any day or night;
My Shepherd watches over me with loving care.

Written to honour my loving deceased father
