When my heart feels heavy,
and shadows gather in thought,
I sit in the quiet, bow my head—
He is already there,
the Comforter, waiting softly,
patient as dawn over still waters.
He takes my hand, leading me
into the cool breath of peace,
where light slips through the cracks,
and tranquility hums—
in the hush of His presence.
I need not weep nor call aloud;
I whisper pain into His open ears,
and He listens—drawing close,
His touch mending every wound.
I ramble, words unformed,
fragments I barely understand—
yet He stays,
unshaken by the mess I bring.
He gathers my broken phrases,
pearls lifted from the sand,
and in His calm, I am known.
Even as I drift from myself,
He finds me where I stand—
knowing the lost roads I wander
better than I ever could.
His voice, soft as morning dew,
tells me I am still loved,
still held—
no cry left to echo alone.
What mercy, what grace—
to be embraced by the One
I turned from,
yet who has never turned from me.
He waits with eternal patience,
His gaze steady,
His arms as open as ever.
He knows the hidden places
I veil from the world,
knows me fuller than
I dare know myself.
And in that knowing, I rest—
for my Creator, my Savior,
is the Lord of my being—
none other, none less.
