WHEN MY LIFE ENDS
When my life ends I shall not take,
Any of the treasures I struggled to make;
The wealth and riches stay behind,
When I am called by the maker of mankind.
I worked hard to make a house of my own;
It stays where it is when I leave the world alone.
Though I call it mine and praise its worth,
It is left alone when I leave the earth.
The family I raised, do not go with me,
They stand around me and watch me.
When the task is done in this world of our birth,
God takes us one by one from the earth.
I wonder very often, just what shall I own
When I leave and go alone.
What survives me when life is ended?
Only the good name I earned.
