Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday

(In memory of all the victims of the

bomb-blast in Sri Lanka)

Everlasting memory on resurrection day,
April twenty first will be a red letter day,
So great is the grief and damage,
Tears welled up, happiness faded away,
Entire world was shaken up with agony,
Risen Christ, watched everything.

Saviour's Blessings will be with every soul,
Upon every tortured and tormented,
Never feel, God has turned his Face against you,
Days belong to him, he knows the right day to repay,
And therefore, await his final judgement,
Your sorrows will be rectified.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My husband passed away in 2016 and his funeral took place on the 20th of March 2016. It was an Easter Sunday. I made it a point to go to Kotahena St. Anthony's church to light candles for my husband. I am aMethodist but I do it because my husband had great faith in St. Anthony. This year my visit to St. Anthony's was delayed for some reason and next thing I heard it was bombed.

If I had gone I also would have been a victim - a week after the incident I wrote this poem.

Wow! What a narrow escape. It looks that your faith guards you taking you to the correct place at the correct time. Very sensational. Please read my poem number 100 " Devil's day doom" too in PH on the same incident. Thanks for sharing.

" Never feel, God has turned his Face against you, Your sorrows will be rectified." Extremely poignant yet the poem ends on an optimistic note. Let's hope that all acts of terrorism end once and for all and the language of love prevails everywhere. Amen! We all can relate this tragedy as well as your personal loss in life. Thanks, Dear Ma'am.
